I had a different and lighter type Drill/Driver before and it didn't hold up long using it for D.I.Y. work around the home, so when it gave out I ordered the Ryobi and it has enough power to do all the drilling I need to do. Since it was Factory Reconditioned it did not have screw driver and drill bit set with it, but I had a good one left from the bad unit. It is just like a new unit and didn't have a worn place or any mark on it. The keyless chuck is very easy to use and holds the bits and drills securely, without wobble or coming loose. I usually don't order reconditioned tools, but I didn't make a mistake with this one.

This is a mid-range tool, and I mean no insult by that. Some people have hands big enough to wrap around a heavy handle, but my wife has a more delicate build. Some people have enough strength that the mass of a high-energy, high-power battery is an acceptable load, but her strength isn't in her hands. And some people have major construction tasks, big repairs, and who-knows-what to drive a drill or screw into next. She has just the usual household fixit work to deal with, or maybe a bit more than some households.

She's always shied away from the beefier power tools, and I respect her evaluation of her control over that mechanical power. She's also ridiculed the little, wimpy 1.8V screwdrivers. It took a bit for her to make friends with this model, but she did. Now, I can't get near it. Remember those seagulls in "Finding Nemo", with the mine-mine-mine? That's her with this cordless.

I've bought three of the 9.6V units so far: one for her, one for a niece just starting her own first fixup apartment, and one for my 80-ish parents. (I love my dad, but he has to be realistic now about how many horsepower of whirling blades he really ought to handle.) And, in most states, it costs less than a carton of cigarettes - and you'll still have it next week.

The pack of bits that comes with it is mostly complete, but not the most durable. You'll have one of each: straight, Philips, square-drive and Torx (each in a few sizes), some drill bits, and more. Don't expect them to last, although each one will give you modest service. Not to worry, you can get lots more of each kind of bit when you need them. The motor is what counts here, and especially the feel of it in your hand. Ladies, please step right up. It's not pink and it's not a girltool, but that's not what a strong woman wants. It's does real work like you do, it works hard like you do, and it may well fit your hand. Try it.

It's not the biggest, baddest thing on the block. Be real, though. If you're not Schwarzenegger, maybe you really want something better proportioned to your hand and strength. This is good for lots of people who have lots of important work to get done.

Purchased new at Home Depot. No this review is not for the re-conditioned model. This is the one that SHOULD be re-conditioned, I guess. Wont hold a charge after use. Fully charged and not even used, the thing is dead as a doornail after sitting idle for 2 or three days. I googled this drill for user reviews. All I could find were two pages of new or re-conditioned batteries for sale...galore! My first Ryobi purchase. So much for that.Gonna see if I can get a different one and exchange it. Or get my money back.

Bought this drill to replace one that came in a kit that went bad after 4 years. The price of this bare-tool made it much more affordable than having the other repaired. Can't beat a Dewalt in reliability, durability and power.

I was looking for something cheap as my first drill. From checking many different stores and drills, this was the best choice for the money. I used this successfully for installing 3 over-the-range microwaves. I bought large Irwin drill bits to cut big holes through drywall and cabinetry, and this drill performed fine. This also
saves you a ton of time having to use a screwdriver to assemble something.

FYI: The 20 accessories that come with this drill are drill bits and screwdriver bits. They are of good quality and that alone saves you some $10-$15 bucks from having to buy it separately with another drill.

This is not a hammer drill so you will not be able to drill through concrete or other strong material. Some places of drywall was difficult for me to drill through, but with maximum drill power and forward-force I was able to make it through.

The battery lasts well for me, one thing that is good is to keep charging it in between working, or while you are taking 30mins for a lunch break. It held its charge for over 2 weeks when I had it in storage between uses.

One suggestion is to have some kind of indicator to let you know when it's fully charged. There are no lights whatsoever to tell you it's charging or it's got a charge. But if you do it like me and plug it in the night before working then you're fine.

Again, for $50 bucks shipped you can't beat this drill. If you're looking for the best then go for DeWalt, but if you need something around the house, or maybe helping out a neighbor install whatever, this is an excellent choice.

I asked for this particular drill (battery powered) for Christmas - and got it :-) I have several Black & Decker items and am pleased with all of them. Jig saw, two electric drills, weed whacker, tiller, small work bench, wall paper steamer (yes, B&D doesn't make them anymore, but I loved my original one that I had for 20 years, which finally gave out after many hours of use not only by me, but also by some of my office colleagues. But I found a "brand-new/old" one, never used, on e-bay.) Some of those tools might not be suitable for a professional handyman, but for a do-it-yourself woman (or some of the more clumsy, helpless do-it-yourself men!), they are wonderful, reliable products.

I chose this drill for two reasons. 1. To replace a model that just stopped working but used the same batteries which would give me additional working time before recharging and 2. I like the compact design that lets me use it in more places and it should be less tiering. I can't comment of performance because I have not really used it much yet. But being a Black & Decker I expect I will be as happy with this one as I was with the old one.

This is the first cordless drill that I have purchased and didn't have to throw away my old one. Thanks to battery interchangability I can keep my old drill, cordless circular saw and work light. This drill is unbelievably powerful for 14.4 Volts, has a locking one-hand chuck and the batteries seem to last forever, even on my old drill which doesn't have the power saving feature this one has. No negatives yet - none expected. Even without previous Hitachi tools needing fresh batteries, I would highly recommend this drill or the similar DV14DL Hammer Drill.

I have not had an opportunity to use the drill on any large projects that would test the 3AH batteries full capacity, but the drill has been fantastic for the smaller projects that I have taken on. Great balance, raw torque to who laid the chunk, torque control that is surgical grade, high AH Lith Ion batteries and the four range speed control make the DS14DL the perfect choice for private or professional use. And the work light, I thought it would be more of a gimmick, boy was I wrong! The work light is the third hand we all have been looking for. I did a lot of leg-work in selecting this drill and I am 100% satisfied with the DS14DL.

Sporting the longest running 28-volt hammer drill on the market, Milwaukee’s V28 lithium-ion cordless kit is always charged up for the beefiest drilling and driving applications. The tool switches easily between drill, drive, and hammer modes for less downtime and smoother transitions between tasks. This ½-inch hammer drill cranks out a whopping 600 inch-pounds of torque for drilling large holes and driving heavy bolts for deck support, playground equipment, and post-and-beam construction. The two variable speeds do it fast, too, spinning along at 0-600 or 0-1800 rpm’s for more productivity.

Powering the V28 is Milwaukee’s revolutionary 28-Volt Lithium-Ion battery pack. The 28-volt battery pack weighs less than an 18-volt NiCad pack yet delivers twice the runtime. And, a patented battery design lets you insert the battery in the reverse position for optimal balance when working overhead or in hard-to-reach areas.

The V28 hammer-drill comes standard with a ½-inch all-metal, single-sleeve, ratcheting chuck with carbide jaws that keep bits from falling out or slipping. A comfortable non-slip, soft-grip handle reduces vibration and fatigue. For easy transport and access, Milwaukee’s patented Clip-Lok system attaches the tool securely to the operator's belt or tool bag and easily releases with one hand—a boon for ladder work where there’s is nowhere safe to rest the tool.
